What can you mix vitamin C serum with?
Vitamin C is one of our favourite ingredients of all time, because it plays nicely with most skincare ingredients. It's especially good with hyaluronic acid, peptides and other antioxidants like vitamin E. There are a few ingredients that are best to use at different times of the day, so if you have AHAs, BHAs (like salicylic acid) and retinol in your routine, we recommend using these at night, and vitamin C in the morning.
Is vitamin C better in the morning or night?
While you can use vitamin C serums in the morning or in the evening, we recommend using them in the morning because of their ability to protect your skin against environmental stressors and pollution. If you really want to ramp up the benefits of vitamin C, and your skin can tolerate it twice a day - feel free to use it at night as well! Always make sure you finish with an SPF, like FullStop.
Will vitamin C help with acne scarring
Vitamin C can help to visibly reduce the appearance of dark spots from acne scarring.
How do I know if my vitamin C serum is working?
You should start to see some short term effects from vitamin C serums within 2 - 4 weeks. Your skin might look more hydrated and more glowy. You could start to notice that your skin is looking brighter and more even and the appearance of dark spots is visibly reduced within 4 - 8 weeks. Vitamin C supports collagen production, so you could start to see anti-ageing benefits within 8 - 12 weeks. Expect to see a visible reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and improved skin elasticity.
How to prevent vitamin C serum from oxidizing?
The tricky thing with antioxidants like vitamin C, is that they can be prone to oxidation which decreases their efficacy. You'll know this has happened because the formulation will turn a brown colour. To avoid this, look for packaging that protects the formulation from air and light - like ours! Make sure you close your serums after you use them, and it's best to also keep them out of direct light in a dry, cool place.
