This unique marine ingredient is found in the deep waters of the arctic, under the Northern Lights. It provides blue light protection and hydrates your skin.
Often referred to as the skin’s bodyguard, this deeply-hydrating amino acid helps to protect against stressors like blue light and environmental pollution. It also supports your skin barrier, leading to more hydrated, healthy skin.
Packed with nourishing fatty acids, this emollient softens and hydrates skin.
SPF stands for sun protection factor. It's a measure of how well it protects your skin from getting sunburnt.
FullStop is a chemical sunscreen. Both mineral and chemical sunscreens are great options - it mostly comes down to personal preference which type you use. Here's a little bit of information about both options, and why we decided to create a chemical sunscreen. Mineral (also known as physical) sunscreens sit on the surface of your skin and act like a shield. Typically they're made with ingredients such as titanium dioxide and zinc oxide which create a barrier that reflects UV light. They often feel quite thick, are hard to spread and leave a white cast. Chemical sunscreens work a little differently - they're made with active ingredients (SPF filters) that absorb UV rays before they penetrate the skin. Typically they're easier to apply and wear because they don't sit on top of the skin and leave a white cast. Based on these factors (and a very long research process!) we decided to make a chemical sunscreen that's enjoyable to use, to encourage everyone to wear sunscreen every day!
When looking for SPF protection, it's very important to look for a broad spectrum sunscreen. This means the product is providing protection from both UVA and UVB rays. UVA rays have a longer wavelength, and are associated with skin ageing. They penetrate the skin more deeply than UVB rays and are responsible for the damage to cells where most skin cancers occur. They can penetrate windows and cloud cover and their strength remains the same throughout daylight hours. UVB rays are shorter wavelength. They damage the outermost layer of our skin and are associated with burning and tanning. UVB rays fluctuate throughout the day and are higher during the summer months. UVB rays do not penetrate glass.
Yes you do! See the "What does broad spectrum mean?" question for more information about how we're exposed to UVB and UVA rays throughout the day.
We recommend using about half a teaspoon on your face and neck when applying sunscreen.
The term "sunblock" isn't used on products anymore - especially in Australia and New Zealand. In the past it referred to mineral sunscreens that use physical ingredients to "block" the sun's rays. However, because nothing can 100% block the sun's rays, this term has (quite rightly) fallen out of favour. "Sunscreen" now refers to both chemical and mineral formulations.
